Cancelation: Today's, Wednesday 7/17, street hockey session has been canceled due to the weather.
North Andover Youth Hockey League (NAYHL) inaugural summer street hockey starts Tuesday, June 25th and runs through Thursday, August 15th. All games are at the North Andover Youth Center. The goal of the summer street hockey program is to provide a fun environment for players to learn a little about hockey, improve their skills and make new friendships.
Schedule of activities
Tuesdays - Grades 5 - 8
Wednesdays - Grades 1 - 4
Thursdays - Alternating between the two different age groups. For example, this Thursday (6/27) will be Grades 5 - 8. Since there will be no activities on July 4th, Thursday (7/11) will be Grades 1 - 4.
Games will start at 5:30 PM and activities will wrap up around 7:45 PM.
Any cancellations via weather will be communicated via email and listed on this site.
NOTE: If the courts are wet after a rainstorm that day's session will be canceled. When the courts are wet they are extremely slippery creating unsafe playing conditions.
To allow families to have a flexible schedule over the summer we will not have formalized teams. Teams will be formed in the traditional Shinny way! Teams will be chosen at random for that day. The organizers will make every attempt to ensure all games are fun, competitive and we will adjust teams as necessary to do so.
After teams are formed for the session 2 teams will play a game on the street hockey court. Games will be made up of 2 - 30 Minute Periods and players will wear pinnies to help distinguish teams. Players not playing in a game will have a skills session held on the basketball court while they wait for their game. The skill session will consist of drills and games designed to help players improve their street hockey skills.
Members of the NAYHL Bantam team participated and volunteered in the Great Strides Walk-A-Thon to cure Cystic Fibrosis event that was held on March 18 at the North Andover Youth Center. After they participated in the walk they helped close out the event with some great dance moves and cleaning up the venue!
