Please join Julia Higgins on June 22nd, for the 2nd Annual Slap Out Epilepsy hockey clinic, for players ages 7-15 (all levels). Joining Julia will be her cousin, NY Ranger Chris Kreider, and her mentor Olympian Chanda Gunn. Also joining Chris and Chanda will be NY Ranger Jimmy Vesey, Florida Panther Frank Vatrano and Olympians Cayla Barnes and Kali Flanagan. More announcements will be coming too! The event will raise money to support the Epilepsy Foundation New England and will be held at the Phillips Academy rinks in Andover from 9 a.m. until Noon.
Julia was diagnosed with epilepsy in April 2016 in the midst of squirt hockey playoffs. Since then, each day is different, some more of a struggle than others, yet she never gives in.
Chanda Gunn shares a similar story and similar passions. Chanda has served many roles, as a former US Olympic goalie, Northeastern University standout, epilepsy warrior, mentor and advocate. Currently, Chanda leads the Young Leaders Network of the Epilepsy Foundation New England, working diligently to empower kids like Julia to take control of the hand they’ve been dealt and fight! What better way to show support than on the ice!
The clinic will be run by Chris, Chanda, other NHL Professionals, WNHL Players and Olympians, along with select, high school and college coaches and players. Billy Jaffe from NESN and NHL Network will MC the event!
Attendance at the clinic includes:
5 Raffle tickets (more can be purchased day of)
On-ice skills stations with Professionals, Olympians and local select, high school and college coaches and players
Picture and autograph opportunities with Professionals and Olympians
NHL style skills competition
Snacks and drinks
In addition, we will hold a one hour session from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for special hockey, sled hockey and open skate for those not interesting or able to participate in a traditional clinic setting.
We are asking for a donation of $126 for the 3-hour clinic and $26 for the 1-hour session. The cost represents the approximately 1 in 26 people in the United States who will develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime. EVERY CENT raised will go to the Epilepsy Foundation New England to support the amazing work they do!

Members of the NAYHL Bantam team participated and volunteered in the Great Strides Walk-A-Thon to cure Cystic Fibrosis event that was held on March 18 at the North Andover Youth Center. After they participated in the walk they helped close out the event with some great dance moves and cleaning up the venue!
